The heart of the department is the BSc programme. The students entering the university to obtain an Honours Degree of Bachelor of Science of Engineering get the opportunity to specialize in the field of Electronic and Telecommunication Engineering or Biomedical Engineering after completing one semester of academic studies. Majority of the students send applications to the department and the selection of the students is done according to the GPA. Hence it is natural for the department to be privileged of having the students with the highest GPA’s.
Duration of the course study is four years and the course is delivered in seven academic semesters and six months of industrial training. The academic semesters are designed to impart a strong theoretical foundation in the principles of Electronic and Telecommunication focusing on the science of engineering. As a graduation requirement, the students must complete a total of 150 credits within the time duration. These credits include 135 credits for GPA modules and 15 credits for Non GPA modules. Along with the experience gained during the industrial training time, the graduates carry out diverse engineering and management tasks in the industry with minimal further training.
The core technical subject areas covered in the Electronic and Telecommunication Engineering include Analog and Digital Electronics, Digital Signal processing, Signals and systems, Electronic Control Systems, Electromagnetics, Communications. The student can choose from a variety of optional subject modules in relevant application areas especially in the third and the final year of the degree program which include Biomedical Engineering, Robotics, Computer Vision, Microwave Engineering, Wireless and Mobile Communication, Nanotechnology.
Multidisciplinary subjects in the areas of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science & Engineering, and IT are also included in the curriculum. Furthermore, extended engineering subjects in the areas of management, marketing and finance have also been included. These help the students to broaden their knowledge horizons and overcome many challengers in the industry.
The department’s objective is not only to produce professional engineers but technology leaders who can provide innovative solutions to the complex and challenging problems. The Program Outcomes can be found here.
