Techstatic - Innovating Agriculture for Sustainability
Techstatic addresses critical challenges in agriculture through their innovative project. Focused on the sustainable goal, food production and preservation, their solution tackles issues ranging from environmental degradation to economic losses for farmers.
Identifying the Problem
The team identified excessive fertilizer use as a major problem, leading to soil degradation and environmental pollution. Additionally, they recognized the lack of precise monitoring contributing to substantial food wastage during harvesting and processing stages. This multifaceted problem negatively impacts farmers, food suppliers, the government, residents in farming areas, and food consumers.
Comprehensive Digital Solution
To address these issues, Techstatic proposes a comprehensive digital system consisting of a portable sensory device and a mobile app. The sensory device measures crucial soil parameters such as N, P, K levels, soil moisture, temperature, humidity, and pH. These readings, combined with user inputs and external data, are sent to a cloud database for analysis.
Intelligent Mobile App
The mobile app serves as an intelligent assistant, providing farmers with personalized recommendations on fertilizer usage, suitable crops, and land management based on sensor data. It also incorporates a machine learning model to predict crop supply, helping farmers avoid surplus production. Furthermore, the app includes features for disease identification using deep learning, real-time alerts, news updates, and educational resources.
Positive Feedback
The team conducted thorough validation of their solution by consulting agricultural experts, farmers, and agricultural service officers. The feedback received affirms the practicality and potential positive impact of their solution.
Alignment with Sustainable Development Goals
Techstatic's project aligns with SPARK’s mission to create sustainable solutions. It contributes to various UN Sustainable Development Goals, including sustainable consumption and production, zero hunger, decent work and economic growth, climate action, and good health and well-being.
Conclusion
Techstatic's project stands as a testament to their commitment to creating a positive impact in agriculture, aligning with the principles of the SPARK competition for creating a better sustainable world.
