Abstract

We present Seg-TTO, a novel framework for zero-shot, open-vocabulary semantic segmentation (OVSS), designed to excel in specialized domain tasks. While current open-vocabulary approaches show impressive performance on standard segmentation benchmarks under zero-shot settings, they fall short of supervised counterparts on highly domain-specific datasets. We focus on segmentation-specific test-time optimization to address this gap. Segmentation requires an understanding of multiple concepts within a single image while retaining the locality and spatial structure of representations. We propose a novel self-supervised objective adhering to these requirements and use it to align the model parameters with input images at test time. In the textual modality, we learn multiple embeddings for each category to capture diverse concepts within an image, while in the visual modality, we calculate pixel-level losses followed by embedding aggregation operations specific to preserving spatial structure. Our resulting framework termed Seg-TTO is a plug-and-play module. We integrate Seg-TTO with three state-of-the-art OVSS approaches and evaluate across 22 challenging OVSS tasks covering a range of specialized domains. Our Seg-TTO demonstrates clear performance improvements (up to 27% mIoU increase on some datasets) establishing new state-of-the-art. Our code and models will be released publicly.

Abstract

Test-time prompt tuning (TPT) has emerged as a promising technique for adapting large vision-language models (VLMs) to unseen tasks without relying on labeled data. However, the lack of dispersion between textual features can hurt calibration performance, which raises concerns about VLMs' reliability, trustworthiness, and safety. Current TPT approaches primarily focus on improving prompt calibration by either maximizing average textual feature dispersion or enforcing orthogonality constraints to encourage angular separation. However, these methods may not always have optimal angular separation between class-wise textual features, which implies overlooking the critical role of angular diversity. To address this, we propose A-TPT, a novel TPT framework that introduces angular diversity to encourage uniformity in the distribution of normalized textual features induced by corresponding learnable prompts. This uniformity is achieved by maximizing the minimum pairwise angular distance between features on the unit hypersphere. We show that our approach consistently surpasses state-of-the-art TPT methods in reducing the aggregate average calibration error while maintaining comparable accuracy through extensive experiments with various backbones on different datasets. Notably, our approach exhibits superior zero-shot calibration performance on natural distribution shifts and generalizes well to medical datasets. We provide extensive analyses, including theoretical aspects, to establish the grounding of A-TPT. These results highlight the potency of promoting angular diversity to achieve well-dispersed textual features, significantly …

Abstract

4D understanding and reasoning is a fundamental capability for embodied AI agents operating in dynamic physical environments. However, existing vision encoders are largely limited to static 2D images or 3D point clouds without temporal modeling, or to 2D videos that lack accurate geometric depth reasoning. Consequently, current approaches fail to jointly capture spatial structure and motion evolution in dynamic scenes. We present CL4D, the first foundational 4D vision encoder that directly operates on dynamic point clouds, trained with a contrastive learning objective to align spatio-temporal geometric representations with natural language descriptions. By learning a shared embedding space between text and 4D scene dynamics, CL4D enables zero-shot motion-to-text and text-to-motion retrieval in dynamic environments and serves as a foundational 4D vision encoder for downstream 4D vision–language tasks …

Abstract

Semi-supervised Domain Generalization (SSDG) addresses the challenge of generalizing to unseen target domains with limited labeled data. Existing SSDG methods highlight the importance of achieving high pseudo-labeling (PL) accuracy and preventing model overfitting as the main challenges in SSDG. In this light, we show that the SSDG literature’s excessive focus on PL accuracy, without consideration for maximum data utilization during training, limits potential performance improvements. We propose a novel approach to the SSDG problem by aligning the intermediate features of our model with the semantically rich and generalized feature space of a Vision Language Model (VLM) in a way that promotes domain-invariance. The above approach is enhanced with effective image-level augmentation and output-level regularization strategies to improve data utilization and minimize overfitting. Abstract

Vision-Language Navigation (VLN) enables robots to navigate through environments using natural language instructions, making human-robot interaction intuitive. Traditional VLN models often rely on navigation graphs, 360-degree views, and perfect localization which pose significant challenges when adapting these models to real-world settings. This work addresses these limitations by performing a simulation-to-real domain shift of a VLN approach that operates in continuous environments without requiring navigation graphs or panoramic views. The proposed system integrates vision-language models that align visual inputs and linguistic instructions within a shared embedding space, facilitating natural language-driven navigation. We employ a Cross-Modal Attention (CMA) based architecture trained on an existing dataset in a simulated environment and fine-tune it using real-world data collected from a …

Abstract

The rapid evolution of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has revolutionized multimedia creation, particularly through Text-to-Image (T2I) diffusion models, which synthesize images from textual descriptions with impressive capabilities. Building on this, enhancing video GIF generation has become a promising frontier. However, the field of Text-to-Video (T2V) GIFs remains underexplored, with limited research addressing this specific application. This synthesis method expands creative expression and finds utility in education, marketing, and entertainment. The lack of focused work highlights both novelty and opportunity for impactful contributions. This study focuses on optimizing T2V GIF generation in terms of computational and parameter efficiency. The resulting model maintains a parameter count below 1 billion, enabling faster training, reduced inference time, lower memory usage, and compatibility with low-end hardware. Inspired …

Computer VisionMachine Learning and Pattern RecognitionVision-Language and Multimodal AI

Abstract

Few-Shot learning aims to train and optimize a model that can adapt to unseen visual classes with only a few labeled examples. The existing few-shot learning (FSL) methods, heavily rely only on visual data, thus fail to capture the semantic attributes to learn a more generalized version of the visual concept from very few examples. However, it is a known fact that human visual learning benefits immensely from inputs from multiple modalities such as vision, language, and audio. Inspired by the human learning nature of encapsulating the existing knowledge of a visual category which is in the form of language, we introduce a contrastive alignment mechanism for visual and semantic feature vectors to learn much more generalized visual concepts for few-shot learning. Our method simply adds an auxiliary contrastive learning objective which captures the contextual knowledge of a visual category from a strong textual encoder in addition to the existing training mechanism. Hence, the approach is more generalized and can be plugged into any existing FSL method. The pre-trained semantic feature extractor (learned from a large-scale text corpora) we use in our approach provides a strong contextual prior knowledge to assist FSL. The experimental results done in popular FSL datasets show that our approach is generic in nature and provides a strong boost to the existing FSL baselines.
